Springtime is one of my favorite times of they year. I love it when the snow is finally gone and you can smell that spring has arrived. A sunny day in the 50's with a bit of a breeze is amazing to me. I love running outside and the weather to do that in can't get much better than that. I also love being able to walk around outside in jeans and a tshirt or hoodie and not feel uncomfortable. One thing that isn't very fun about spring is that it's very messy. After all the snow is gone it leaves slush and water everywhere! But thats okay, before you know it, the messiness of winter is gone in a flash.
Spring is also baseball season! I love watching baseball, whether it be going to a twins game or simply going to watch my close friends play. It's a great time to hang out with friends, and sit back and relax all while enjoying a fresh hot dog.
Spring also means my summer soccer team starts back up. We all go to different high schools so we don't get to play soccer with eachother during the school year, yet alone see each other. Over the summer they become my best friends so it's always a little sad when summer rolls to an end. But when spring has arrived, so have soccer practices and the bonds we made together become even stronger every year. I can't wait for school to be out so I can go home and see them!

My Favorite Food
When I was younger my favorite food was chicken. Everytime we went out to eat I got chicken. It didn't matter where we were, I always asked for the kids menu and ordered chicken strips. If they didn't have chicken strips I ordered the closest thing to it. My favorite food now is still chicken, even though that's all I ate my whole childhood. My tastes are mostly the same, the only thing that has changed is I do not think I could eat it quite as often as I used to. I still order chicken strips from time to time, but now I enjoy a variety of chicken meals, like chicken alfredo, bbq chicken sandwhich, chicken pizza, etc. Now that I am older, I do like mixing it up more often and getting something new to eat. I also tend to not order off the kids menu...as much. When I was younger my parents always told me I would hate chicken when I'm older, but I proved them wrong. I always tended to agree with them, but I guess my taste buds haven't changed at all. One reason I still enjoy chicken could be because the taste brings back memories of when I was younger. I'm not really sure, but all I know is you can't go wrong with chicken.

Opinion
I felt that my opinion really mattered in the past presidential election. It was my first time being able to vote so I was very excited to express my opinion. I was also in a Political Science class during the past election months, so the upcoming election was basically all we talked about. A majority of the students in the class didn't have the same beliefs as me and a few others, so it was kind of fun to get into heated debates and see everyones point of view. If only one person would have shared their thoughts that class would have been incredibly boring, so it was important I let my voice be heard, along with many other people in my class. Not only did the class really get me fired up to vote and express my opinion, but one of my good friends who is a Poli Sci major really got me ready for the election. It's all he would talk about. Sure, it got a little old from time to time, but he really kept me informed and updated.
I think that everyone should vote, everyone's opinion matters when it comes to running our country. If nobody voted and everyone thought their opinion didn't really matter, we would get no where. If your not going to vote, you don't have the right to complain about the way its being ran, our president, or other little things.

Almost There!!
This week is a very stressful one for me. Today our rough draft critique of The Zookeeper's Wife was due, and I have exam number two for chemistry at 4 o'clock. I've spent alot of time preparing for this test, but I still don't feel 100 percent ready for it!! It's so nerve racking..I would say I just want today to be over with, but to top it off tomorrow I have a huge biology test, and a pop music test. I've already studied both of those-somewhat, so hopefully that studying tonight and tomorrow will go over pretty easily. So, I can't wait for Thursday to be here and done with. Then, it's finally spring break! I figure I should just work as hard as possible these next few days, because then I will have a whole week off to rest my brain and have some fun. I still have to find out my work schedule, but if work permitts, my friend Holly and I are planning on spending a few days with our friend Jeff. He goes to school in Austin and has 4 other roommates, all of whom we are friends with. Sometime during those few days we are going to suprose our friend Kaity who goes to school at Winona. They are on there break now, so hopefully this all works out perfectly. She won't even see it coming, I really can't wait! I love suprises. I think they are one of the nicest things you can do to make someones day. Plus I will be with my best friend Holly the whole time, so I'm bound to have a crazy good time no matter what happens! But for now, my main goal is to just make it through these next couple days...

Cell Phone
Something terrible happened last night...I dropped my phone in the toilet. I just got this phone less than a month ago. It was in my back pocket and I totally forgot all about it. Right when I heard the splash I immediately reached in for it and got. I have a feeling it is too late to save it though. I took the battery out right away and dried it off, then one of my friends told me to put it in a bag of rice. Apparently the rice helps absorb the water from the phone. Then me being the stupid person that I can sometimes be, tried turning it back on only an hour or so after the incident occurred. I called my dad to ask what his opinion was and the first thing he said was, "Do NOT try turning it on or charging it for at least two days!!" Soooo I'm pretty sure my phone is a goner. But just in case I have it sitting in front of a fan for now. I plan on keeping it there for a day or two, then testing my luck by seeing if it will work. For now I have my super old razor. I absolutely hate this phone but hey, it is better than nothing at all. It's really strange texting on my old phone again. I had just finally gotten used to texting on my new phone, which has a full keyboard. I loved it! But now I'm back to the lame old number keypad. If my phone doesn't work in the next couple days hopefully my parents will buy me a knew one, if not I guess I'll have to use my tax money that I should be getting back shortly for a new one.

Spring Break
Everyother year for spring break my family goes to Mexico, but unfortunately we went last spring break. That means I have to wait until next spring break to enjoy the warm sandy beaches of the ocean. I'm so disappointed, but I guess sometimes the good comes with the bad. I'm still very much looking forward to spring break however. I really want a break from school, and not to mention cafeteria food. I cannot wait to have my moms homemade meals once again. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! I'll also have to work a few days at Chili's, which i guess isn't a bad thing considering my checking account is slowly depleting. I'm very excited to see my hometown friends again, I didn't get to see all of them over Christmas break so hopefully it works out this time. I also can't wait to see my best friend Kaity!! She goes to Winona and we barely get to see each other...but we talk all the time and are probably even closer than when we left for college. I love our friendship! Although, I will miss my college friends most definately. I can't even imagine what summer vacation is going to be like without seeing them nearly as much, and with living at home again for three straight months! I mean, I can take going back for a week or two but after that I can't take much of my parents any longer. Oh well, hopefully I'll be spending most of my time working this summer. I also am excited to see my Grandparents over spring break. My Grandma is finally home from the hospital after her hip surgery/broken leg situation, so it will be great to see her. I highly doubt I'll be seeing my brother since he lives and works in Duluth, but I'm used to that. The last thing I'm really excited about is seeing my golden retriever, Lilly!!! She is by far my favorite part about home. I wish I could just pack her up and take her with me back to college.

Movie That Changed My Views
Many things have an impact on our lives or help how we view the world around us. After 9/11 a movie was released called Flight 93. At first I didn't want to go to it because I thought it was just going to be a boring movie with everyone crying around me. I felt terrible about 9/11, but it was so far away from me and by the time the movie had come out it was in the back of my head. But I went anyways. After the movie I had such a remotely greater respect for everyone involved. From all the victims in the planes, and tradecenters, to their families, to all the heros trying to save them. It really made me appreciate my freedom here in America, the freedom I take for granted everyday. I had a more patriotic feeling toward my country after, similar to the feeling America shared right around the time of the terrible events. Not only did it change me in that sense, but it made me apprectiate my family even more. Everyday, well not everyday anymore since I'm in college, when I would see them I took their presence in my life and love for me for granted. We would always get in stupid little fights that now I see really don't matter. Never did matter, never will matter. The big picture is that day so many people lost loved ones who meant the most to them in this world, but mine are still here. I definately don't, or try not to take that for granted anymore.

My Week
This week is going to be an interesting one for me. Last weekend I went home because my Grandma had hip surgery, so we went to go visit her in the hopsital. It turns out that during surgery the doctor accidentially broke her femur so she is going to be there longer than expected. On Monday they are going to move her to a nursing home for her physical therapy until her leg heals. She was really down about that, but it was really good to see her and she's doing somewhat okay. Besides visiting her my weekend was jampacked with homework. I have a huge chemistry test on Tuesday, so most my time was spent studying for this test. I also had to write my narrative and read. Then on Wednesday I have a Chemistry quiz and a music test. On Thursday my Biology lab report is due, plus I have my two labs to prepare for. Then on Friday I have my Biology exam. This week is going to be a long one, but it will feel so good when it's over! I really hope I come out of all the exams confident so I don't worry about them all weekend. I hope to have a really fun weekend. My good friend who goes to school in Winona, MN, is meeting me in Austin, MN, where we are suprise visiting one of our other friends. I'm really excited! But other than that I plan on just relaxing and having a good time after my stressful week.

My Biggest Pet Peeve
There are quite a few things that annoy me, just like everyone else I'm sure, but there is one thing that beats out all of the rest. When it comes to people being two-faced I just cannot stand it.
This is my biggest pet peeve because I am not a fan of dishonest peoplpe, people who talk behind peoples backs, or people who think they need everyone to like them. Then, in order to make everyone like them they make others sound bad. I think everyone should just be themselves and if someone likes you that's great, if they don't then move on. I do not understand why you would want to be friends with someone who doesn't like you for who you really are. There's a saying by Dr. Seuss that I think is so true, "Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
I've had plenty of friends in the past who have been two-faced to me, or to other good friends of mine. In order to avoid them I just pick out the friends I know I can trust. That doesn't mean I don't befriend people I can't trust or think are two-faced, it just means I don't share with them every little secret. That way we can still be friends, but I don't have to worry about them talking behind my back or secretly making jokes about me or other good friends. Although, if they chose to still make up lies or talk about me, I won't be quite as hurt because obviously we won't be as close as if I had shared everything about myself.

My Weekend
Last weekend was kind of uneventful for me. Thursday night I studied Chemistry for a very long time, then took a break to hang out with a few people from my floor in Gage. While we were hanging out we played jenga and watched some tv, then I actually went to bed at a pretty decent time. Friday I had two classes and was done by 3 o'clock. After class I worked out, and finished reading the Zookeeper's Wife. After reading for what seemed like an eternity, me and two of my best friends went to applebees for half off appetizers. Then my really good friend Jeff called me and said he was coming to visit me on Sunday and that I better have no homework to do. So when we got back I wrote my English summary and went to bed. Saturday morning I woke up pretty early and met my best friend Holly at the reccenter. We worked out for about 2 hours then ate breakfast together. It may not seem like much fun, but anytime I spend with her is a great time! We make eachother laugh everyother minute..it's always unexpected. I love it! Then for a few hours I went to the library to finish up my homework. I knew the usual Sunday "homework day" wasn't going to be possible for me since Jeff was coming to visit. After I finished that up I just hung out with friends for the rest of the night. Then Sunday rolled along and once again I met Holly at the reccenter and we worked out, followed by eating a delicious breakfast at the cafeteria. Jeff called me and said he was on his way so I showered and waited around for him. When he got here he took Holly and I shopping, then we went out to eat a Buffalo Wild Wings. Then we just hung out and had a great time like the old days of high school. It was really good to see him! Now we'll see what next weekend brings.

Expectations
This semester I expect to be a tough one, but I'm going to to do my best to do as well as possoble. My major is Biochemistry to some of my classes are pretty hard. Chemistry 202 and Biology 105 are really going to be a challenge, but it's classes like my English class that give me a break from all the mind killing chem problems.
From my English course I expect to broaden my writing skills. I hope to make my papers flow better and have better ideas and thoughts put into them. I hope this class is able to give me a break from all the other boring textbook classes, and allow me to use other areas of my brain. I really like reading books, so reading The Zookeeper's Wife for a class has been nice so far.
From my English instructor I only expect good teaching. I think that if you have a good teacher who explains things thoroughly and is passionate about what he or she is talking about, that you can only do well in the class if you try. Oh, I guess I expect to have homework graded at a reasonable time.
For myself my expectations are high. I need to do well in this course, along with all my other ones, to maintain a high gpa. That means doing all my homework and readings on time and doing them well. I expect to study alot before tests come around so I am very prepared for them, and not cramming the night before. I don't just want to do OK in college, I want to succeed and do great. Afterall, it's only our future we are talking about.

About Me
My name is Caitlin Seichter and I'm from Blaine, MN. Along with my two parents I have an older brother, Jeremy, and a golden retriever named Lillly. Even though I lived in Blaine, I went to a small private high school called West Lutheran in Plymouth, MN. It was so small that my graduating class only had about 60 people in it. The whole school had around 200 people.
Ever since I was little I have loved playing sports, mainly soccer and basketball. I played each one all four years during high school, and most of my best memories come from one of the two teams. During summer I play traveling soccer and I love every minute of it. The team I play for is crazy and fun, you never know what to expect from them.
During high school I had a few different jobs to make some spending money. My first job was at Quiznos Subs. Even though it didn't pay very well and I worked with some crazy people, it was still a decent job. I got an unlimited amount of free sandwiches and the job itself wasn't too hard. After i got sick of smelling like sandwiches I worked at Best Buy. This was also a nice job, the employee discount was great! I was only hired as seasonal here to after the Christmas rush was ended I needed to find a new job. So I started working as a Host at Chilis. Chilis is by far my favorite job out of the three, and I still work there today. I love interacting with all the different people, and its the easiest job that has payed the best, so far. Plus when it's not busy I get to sit and watch sports in the bar!
